On Tuesday, when Alex was 18 days old, I left him sleeping on his back on my bed for a few minutes. When I came back into the room, he was on his stomach.
!!?!
Is it even possible for a two-and-a-half-week old baby to roll over? Anybody have a precedent for this? Not in our family - James was three-and-a-half MONTHS old when he rolled over for the first time. I looked it up.
James was in the room with him at the time, and I asked him (James) if he had touched him (Alex). He said no. I will concede that it is possible that James did it, but I think that would have been strange behavior, even for James. He usually just likes to kiss and hug Alex and bring him toys.

believe it or not, but i think you will now....Eli rolled over from back to tummy at 16 (i think that's right) days. my mom said it was not possible, but i put in down on his back in his bassinet while i went out to get the mail. i came in and he was on his tummy. no one else was in the house but the two of us. no big brother to "blame" it on. freak accident though. he didn't roll over again til somewhere around 3 1/2 or 4 months! maybe Alex is a prodigy though! :)
I didn't have that experience, but Philip could sing on pitch at 9 lonths (books say 4-6 years) and his 5 month son can keeo time. I think that there are significant outliers in infant development. Constance
Wow! 2 weeks seems young, but if James didn't do it . . . !!
I believe it. We have Tyler rolling over on video at 1 1/2 months. Crazy boys. How are you all holding up?
Awesome! Probably a freak occurance, but cool nonetheless. I can't remember which of my children it was, maybe Kate, who did the same thing, only she rolled off the bed. (oops--who knew a 4 week old could roll over??) And there was no one else in the house at the time....so, yeah, it's totally possible!!
One of my nieces rolled over on the doctor's scale at her 2 week visit. It was Kate's one and only infant roll-over; she didn't do it again until she was three months or so. I wonder if she was just going for the drama: there, on the scale, with a full medical and proud mommy audience. Perhaps it was an early indicator of a theatrical future?
It is not unheard of--you better watch out!
It is totally, totally possible. Careful where you leave him! He must be exceptionally smart.
And um... where are the pictures????? I have been waiting to see this big baby of yours!
Amazing, but possible!! would love to see picutes of your little one.
Sounds like you have another precocious and precious little guy! That is amazing!
That's amazing! None of our children did that that young!
I agree with Mary. I want to see some pictures of this amazing child.
