I Need Your Validation

Last night, James was acting a little strange around bedtime, so Micah and I weren't shocked when he threw up (all over the bathroom) after dinner.  After that, he went to bed, but wanted me to sleep in his bed with him, which I did.  Then he woke up about every 5.2 seconds to whine, cry, and generally be unconsolable about how uncomfortable he felt.  Needless to say, I got very little sleep last night.  We got out of bed around 8:30,* and now it's 9:48.  In the last hour, I have eaten two bowls of cereal, played Spider Solitaire, and listened to my Disneyland soundtrack.  What I need from you, dear reader, is your blessing.  Tell me it's okay after a night like that to not get anything done today.  Please.

*James awoke having no indication, in demeanor or otherwise, that any of this had ever transpired.

If it makes you feel any better, it is a National Holiday here (end of Ramadan) so you will be joining a lot of people in not doing much. It actually rained most of today, so we hardly did anything either. You're pregnant and taking care of a toddler - you're doing plenty.

You are not alone. Mallory woke up several times last night. She is teething and had a fever. Zach woke up throwing up at 5am. Then Wyatt was out of bed to go to the bathroom. Then Ethan decided that 6:30 was a good wake up time. I am exhausted and it is only 8:30am. Hang in there and good luck with spider solitaire!!

No need to worry. Some days I was so sick, not as sick as you are, when I was pregnant with Tyler that most of the time it was all I could do to get Lexi dressed and ready. Then all we would do is turn on movies for the day. The house was a mess, I was a mess and thankfully, Nate would come home from work and make dinner. By no means are you a bad mother. Down days are OK.

as much as we feel "bad" about days like that...we need to take them more often than we do....not just after a night of no sleep. enjoy it! and know i'm thinking of you and praying for you!

You've done your good deed - in the wee hours of the morning. Please write it down in big letters under the heading "TO DO" then cross it off with much relish. You're amazing to help your sweet James so patiently! I just told you to do something -- oops! I hope you're enjoying your restful day and I hope you order take-out!

Take all the time you need to recoop! Motherhood is so hard especially at night. it's okay to have a do nothing day! In fact, I try to have them at least once a week to recharge. I'm not always successful in arranging it, but it is fun when I do manage it! You are doing great!

Oh Tat!
I hope you took a nap-- if possible. There are so many days that felt like I was walking through a thick fog. My brain didn't work and I was exhausted. Don't worry about the house. Just survive them.

had i read this on said day, i would have pointed out you weren't really committing to being unproductive. i might have suggested starting a game of spider solitaire, not finishing it, then getting out the box of cereal, but skipping a bowl and eating it with your hands from the box, only to leave it open on the counter. some random naps, taken on the floor because it was too much work to settle onto the couch or bed would also have been a way to take it for the team. and you didn't mention this, but i'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, because you are a smart lady and hoping you didn't bother with matching socks or hairbrushing. maybe i should send you a little certificate with my signature that grants approval for these kinds of days, with a few more helpful suggestions to make them really well rounded. and by well rounded i mean square, because too round would be a lot more work. in fact, had i made this comment on the day you wrote this, i would have sincerely hoped you didn't bother to finish reading it. i might have even ended it abruptly to force you to do one less th-
